Founder, C.E.O.
David Tenenbaum
Growing up, I had a front-row seat to the catering industry, watching my parents build and operate a successful catering business. Inspired by that foundation, I founded Rocky Mountain Spice Company in 1994. Today, I oversee the financial side of the business, drawing on my background in accounting and entrepreneurship while helping guide the company’s continued growth. I also work closely with our sales team, serving as a customer-facing resource to support our clients and partners.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our two daughters, and our two grandchildren. I love everything Colorado, especially skiing, golfing, live music, and traveling.

As President, I bring a thoughtful, hands-on approach to research and development, quality, regulatory compliance, operations, and leadership. I care deeply about making safe, high-quality food and building a team culture where people feel supported, heard, and proud of their work. I’ve been in the food industry since 2005, and I still bring the same curiosity, care, and love of food that first drew me to the field.
Outside of work, I’m happiest spending time with the people I love, especially in my favorite role as an aunt. I love planning adventures with my niece and two nephews, making memories with family, and being part of the everyday moments that matter. I also enjoy getting outdoors with my husband and our two dogs, skiing, golfing, paddle boarding and traveling to experience different cultures through food.

As Chief Operating Officer, I enjoy finding ways to improve processes, support our employees, and help drive the continued growth of the business.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors. I live in New York City and enjoy traveling, fishing, running marathons, and cheering on the Red Sox. Whether I’m exploring a new destination, training for my next race, or spending time outside, I appreciate opportunities to stay active and experience something new. I am a proud husband and father to my son. I also enjoy spending time with my dog, Koji, who is my best friend and constant companion.

I grew up working in restaurants since I was 15. Food and cooking are my passions and I love to experiment in the kitchen and share meals with my family and friends. What I love most about working at Rocky Mountain Spice Company are the relationships we’ve built over the years with our customers and team. I spend my time away from the office with my daughter enjoying the beautiful Colorado outdoors.

The short story of going from a Meat Queen to a Spice Girl……
I started my career in food manufacturing in 2016 as a salesperson for a beef harvest facility. Working closely with the production team on customer projects developed my passion for operations. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to touch many departments throughout manufacturing facilities, but my enthusiasm for operations has never waned. Joining the Rocky Mountain Spice Company team in March 2025 allowed me to become part of a team that is dedicated to always bringing their best to the food manufacturing industry.
Outside of work, I love food and trying new and interesting cuisines, shanking volleyballs in a recreational adult league, adventuring with my husband and pets, and chipping away at my goal of reading 100+ books a year.

I started my first job at 14 years old at Romano’s in Littleton to save for my first car. What began as a part-time job quickly turned into a lifelong career in the food industry. After spending time in the ski industry and working my way from the pizza kitchen to bar manager at The Sink in Boulder, I traded the restaurant world for a day job at Sysco Foods. From there, I built my career in food sales and poultry, spending 10 years at Red Bird Farms, where I advanced to Director of Food Service Sales, followed by another 10 years at Wayne Farms helping launch one of the first raised-without-antibiotics jumbo bird programs. Most recently, I joined Pure Prairie Poultry, where I enjoyed helping build a startup alongside a talented team. I’m excited to be working for a Colorado company again as a Colorado native.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my high school sweetheart, who I’ve been happily married to for 23 years, and our two wonderful children. Our oldest is getting ready to attend CU Boulder, making it an exciting new chapter for our family. Whenever I can, I love escaping to our mountain home at 10,000 feet to enjoy everything Colorado has to offer.
